In 1947, *Beit HaSochrim* (“The Merchants’ Building”) was inaugurated. The International Style building was designed by architect Meir Horman for the brothers Eliyahu and Yosef Romano. The building functioned as an early version of a shopping mall. In addition to commercial spaces and workshops, it housed in it's early days some military and municipal offices and later also the office of *Ha'ir* newspaper. In recent years the place became as a vibrant cultural center including performances, fairs, artists’ studios, galleries, restaurants, and more. Selected pages from a documentation report on façade color schemes.
