The youth | Relief | Nathan Rapoport | Collab. Wall Art Investigation and Conservation
Documentation and conservation consultancy for initial conservation works on the relief *“Youth”* by the sculptor Nathan Rapoport (1911–1987). The relief is installed on the façade wall of *Beit Menachem* in Kibbutz Ma’abarot. The building was constructed in 1953, designed by Kibbutz Movement architect Shmuel Mestechkin, with the relief added approximately one year after the building’s completion. The report includes a detailed account of the relief’s history, original condition, and current state. Conservation works include cleaning, removal of later interventions, stabilization, and protection of both the relief and the supporting wall. The project was carried out in 2024 in collaboration with conservator Roy Givati, commissioned by the Wall Art Survey in Israel of the Ben-Zvi Institute and the Council for Conservation of Heritage Sites in Israel.
